Welcome to Minehead & District U3A Society Hub

Welcome to our community hub, where learning never stops and connections thrive. We’re here to bring together seniors and adults in the Minehead area through shared interests, lifelong learning, and meaningful social engagement.

What We Do / Our Mission

Our mission is simple: to enrich the lives of our members by creating accessible, enjoyable, and stimulating opportunities for learning and connection. At Minehead & District U3A, we believe that curiosity doesn’t retire — it evolves. Whether you’re exploring a new hobby, deepening your knowledge, or simply enjoying a cup of tea with friends, we’re here to make it happen.

Topics We Cover

We offer a wide variety of interest groups and activities, including:

  • Art and crafts
  • Literature and book clubs
  • Local history and heritage
  • Language learning
  • Music and singing
  • Walking and outdoor activities
  • Science and technology talks
  • Wellbeing and mindfulness

Our groups are led by members, for members — no qualifications needed, just passion and curiosity.

About the Creator/Team

Our hub was founded by Talia Fenwick, a lifelong advocate for community engagement and adult education. Inspired by her own experiences of finding purpose and friendship after retirement, Talia created this space to ensure others in the Minehead area could enjoy the same sense of belonging and intellectual stimulation. While based in Edinburgh, Talia remains deeply connected to the local community and works closely with volunteers across the region to keep our activities vibrant and inclusive.

Why This Website Exists

This website was born from a simple observation: too many people in our community were unaware of the rich opportunities available to them. We wanted to change that. By bringing all our groups, events, and contacts together in one place, we hope to lower the barrier to entry and encourage more people to join, participate, and thrive.

Our Values/Approach

We believe in:

  • Volunteer-led learning — everyone has something to teach and something to learn
  • Inclusivity — no matter your background, ability, or prior experience
  • Community over competition — collaboration is at the heart of everything we do
  • Accessibility — our events are affordable, welcoming, and easy to join

Our content is curated by local volunteers and reviewed for accuracy and warmth. We don’t sell anything. We don’t push agendas. We simply share information to help you connect.
