The next Local History Group meeting will be on Thursday 4 November at the usual time (10.15 for 10.30 am), when we will be joined on Zoom by Dr Leonard Baker. Leonard is the post-doctoral researcher involved with the Exmoor National Park project on the Knight papers.  The title of Dr Baker’s talk is ‘A landscape transformed: The reclamation of Exmoor Forest during the 19th century’. He will set the developments in Simonsbath into a social history context and describe what else was going on at the time when John Knight bought the former Royal Forest.

As the talk will be delivered via Zoom there is no restriction on numbers, so this meeting will be open to any u3a member. If you’re not on the local history mailing list but would like to hear the talk, all you need to do is contact the Convenor, ,  nearer the time for the Zoom link.
