The important bit!
Mah Jong Mixers meet twice monthly on the first and third Monday of each month at 2 30 pm. We normally meet at Alan’s house in Watchet. Please remember to check the Calendar in case of any late changes to schedule.
Our group is led by Alan Eagle, and he may be contacted by email at .
Alan writes: The Mah Jong (Washford) Group has been re-born as the Mah Jong Mixers and we will be starting again from Monday 7th February. Pam Young has retired as convenor and I have volunteered to take over following lockdown.
As we will initially be a small group I will be happy to host our sessions at my home in Watchet. As most members will now be a bit rusty, we will be starting from the basics and then building up at a comfortable pace. We are essentially a beginner’s group but players with more experience will also be very welcome, but be aware that we will not be introducing special hands for a while. For our rules we will be using the U3A Guide produced by Susan Fifer – Mah Jong: Game of the Four Winds: materials for U3A Groups‘. [A PDF file of this is available to download] As and when the group expands we will find a suitable venue that can cope with more than two tables.
For members who are not familiar with the game, Mah Jong is an enjoyable, tactile and sociable game played with tiles originating in China in the 19th Century.
Please see the Minehead group for additional Mah Jong meeting options.
