Genealogy

The important bit!

Following an initial request for interested members to come forward, we now have a list of 45 names who may be able to go forward to form this new group – and other members are welcome to express interest too.

At this stage, we are still working out how to proceed – we need to determine where and when the group will meet, and Martin has written to the 45 interested members raising these issues, with a hope to be able to form a clear position

Our group is led by Martin Fisk and he may be contacted at 01643 705272 or by email at .

About the group

We have not yet formally started, but we are looking round for some suggestions of topics for discussion – and members willing to present. Here are some initial ideas:

  • Researching World War I resources
  • One-name studies
  • Poll-books and electoral rolls
  • Marriage and divorce records
  • Family history software
  • Creating a family history book
  • Wills and probate
  • DNA – pros and cons
  • … and so much more. Your suggestion?

If you have a topic that you would like to present, please let us know. If you want to discuss the possibilities of a topic, then please view the Genealogy Forum, which will also contain items of news and of interest.

If you are interested in joining the group, it would be really excellent if you could let us know a bit about your interests in this area. Please complete the Genealogy Group Profile form.  If you are form-averse, then just send an email to Martin.
