Covid Vaccination Booking update for West Somerset

Our Minehead Hospital site, via the West Somerset Primary Care Network (PCN), is contacting people in group 6 who have underlying health issues as specified by the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).
We are now also contacting those of you in group 5, who have not attended the mass vaccination sites as per your central invitation letter.  First, we will attempt a text invitation and follow this up with a call, if you do not/ cannot respond, or do not have a mobile number registered.
Please be aware this call may be from a withheld number, as it is unlikely this will be from your GP surgery – we have PCN care co-ordinators making these calls on behalf of the surgeries.
The only time we are asking you to contact your GP practice for a vaccination appointment is if you have received a letter directly from your practice.
If you receive a letter in the following days to book at a mass vaccination site (such as Taunton) and you are able to travel, please consider this as an option as we are now scheduling second doses for those vaccinated with their first dose in December at Minehead, so our capacity for first doses will be limited.  We are not vaccinating cohort 7 yet ( 60-64 years) so you will potentially be vaccinated quicker if you attend the mass vaccination site.
The rollout of second dose invitations (started today) is happening in a phased way – there is no need to contact your GP practice at this time if you have not heard yet.
We are striving to provide the best service we can for our patients in West Somerset.
I am sure you can appreciate the number of patients we have to invite.  Our timescales are dependent on vaccine supply and the cohorts we are instructed to vaccinate as the programme progresses.
Thanking you for your continued support and patience
    Kelsey and Kerry
