A Goldcrest arrived on the Blackberry bush this evening and spent a happy five minutes eating something off the leaves. First ever sighting. Are they common in gardens in central Minehead?

I have had them inside my suet pellet feeders, I’m on the Minehead Sea front, but that was a few years ago.  I have seen them more recently in the shrubby bits on North Hill.

Checked the Sightings list and it shows that Goldcrests are much more likely to be seen in woodland than in gardens. They are so cute and I feel lucky to have seen one hopping around my garden.

The 2021 Sightings list shows goldcrest being spotted in each month this year.

I saw my first ever Goldcrest about 3 months ago hopping amongst some small conifers and a rose bush. I haven’t heard many people mention they have seen Goldcrests in their gardens and I believe they favour locations with tall pine trees. Mine didn’t hang around very long. Can’t believe that it is so tiny and fidgety.
