Middle England by Jonathan Coe

Various characters appear with views, hopes and aspirations during the first decade of the 21st century. Although I didn’t easily take to the characters they each represented the differing views and values found in Middle England. A fascinating observation of the times, described by The Financial Times as “ A pertinent,entertaining study of a nation in crisis.”
I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I thought it was a hoot! The characters are a bit stereotypical, but they have stayed with me, I wondered if the author might like to follow up with a ‘how they coped with the pandemic’ novel.  I made a mental note to read some of his other titles but have yet to make the time/opportunity.
